RASE Farm of the Future Award
The RASE Farm of the Future Award was established in 2023 to promote and celebrate the trailblazers of agriculture, whose efforts are leading the way to establish agricultural systems which are producing nutritious food, benefiting the environment and are economically sustainable.
In 2024, the Farm of the Future award was received by David Brass from The Lakes Free Range Egg Company. David has implemented several innovative approaches and developed technological solutions to improve bird welfare, which have been applied across their supply farms as well as on their own. These include planting trees to improve welfare, the development of a dark brooding system to produce better feathered birds and development of a computerised system that provides alerts based on real-time sensor information.
The first winners of the award were Paul and John Cherry, who were presented the award in recognition of how the Groundswell Event has become a ground-breaking initiative promoting regenerative agriculture and instilling confidence in many farmers to start their journey towards more sustainable farming systems. The ripple effect of this transfer of knowledge has been phenomenal.
